Where to Stay in San Ignacio and the Cayo Jungle Lodges: Published Rates

Verified live on 26 August 2026, on each property’s own published rate page.

Five properties in and around San Ignacio publish a nightly rate you can read without a booking engine. They start at US$68 in town, US$109 on the hillside above it, US$158 prepaid or US$178 at a mid-tier jungle lodge, and US$409 at the luxury end — all before a 9% hotel tax where the property states one, and a service charge that ranges from nothing to 12%. Four of the five state that 9%. Midas Belize, the property that prints the US$68, states no tax at all, so its figure is the one number here that cannot be turned into a total.

In Cayo the service charge runs from none stated at all to 12%, the highest in this research. The printed room rate is not the final bill, and the size of the gap is set by which lodge printed the number rather than by what the room is.

The one property in Belize that prints the total

Cahal Pech Village Resort, “perched on a serene hillside above San Ignacio Town”, publishes the tax and the service charge as line items and shows the resulting rack total. Every other property in this research omits that:

The standard cabana is broken out on the resort’s own page as $109.00 + $9.81 tax + $10.90 service = $129.71. Printed validity and tax note: “Rates are valid from now through Nov 30th, 2026, and are subject to 9% hotel tax and 10% service charge.” That $109.00 to $129.71 is the arithmetic every other Belize property leaves to the guest.

In town

Midas Belize publishes the cheapest rate sourced in Cayo and is the only genuinely in-town property here with a public price list. It describes its own location as “on 30 riverside acres, minutes on foot from the cafes, markets and tour departures of downtown”:

The page carries neither a tax note nor season dates, so these read as flat rates observed on 26 August 2026 — and unlike Cahal Pech’s, they cannot be converted into a real total.

The jungle lodges

Table Rock Jungle Lodge, Mile 5 Cristo Rey Road, Cristo Rey Village, publishes a full three-season table:

Season dates as printed for 2026: High January 4 – March 31, April 9 – June 30 and November 1 – December 19; Low July 1 – October 31; Peak January 1–3, April 1–8 and December 20–31, plus January 1–3, 2027. Tax note: “Please add 9% hotel tax and 10% service charge to accommodation rates.”

Its booking conditions are a planning constraint, not just a price: a three-night minimum, five nights over Christmas and New Year, up to two children under 18 staying free on existing bedding, and additional occupants at $20 per night.

Black Rock Lodge prices each season three ways — Regular, Special Pre-Paid, and Discounted Fully Refundable — across six cabin categories: Classic Cabin, Riverview Cabin, Riverview Deluxe, Riverfront Deluxe, Riverfront Suite with A/C, and Bird’s Nest.

Its Bird’s Nest tops out at $470 over Christmas and $450 in early 2027. Tax note: “Please add 9% Hotel tax” — no service charge. Extra guests beyond double occupancy are “US$10 per person plus 9% hotel tax”.

The prepaid discount is the largest single booking lever found anywhere in this research: $72 a night off a Classic Cabin in the April-to-December window, a 31% reduction, in exchange for prepayment.

The Lodge at Chaa Creek publishes one long season, 15 December 2025 – 14 December 2026, with no separate Christmas peak:

Breakfast is included for two guests on most categories, and for up to four or six on the larger units. Tax note: “Rates are not inclusive of 9% Hotel Tax & 12% Service Charge” — the highest service charge found on any Belize property in this research, which puts a $409 cottage at about $495 in the hand.

The service charge is the variable, not the tax

9% appears on every Cayo property that publishes a tax note, and on every property that publishes one on Ambergris Caye, Caye Caulker and in Placencia on the same date. Properties that publish no tax note at all — Midas here, Ramon’s Village on Ambergris Caye, Colinda Cabanas on Caye Caulker — are not evidence either way. What moves is the service charge.

Take $240 a night, a figure both Table Rock and Black Rock actually publish. Under Black Rock’s 9%-only terms it totals $261.60. Under Table Rock’s 9% plus 10% it totals $285.60. Under Chaa Creek’s 9% plus 12% it would total $290.40 — $28.80 a night between the cheapest and dearest terms, created by the service charge and nothing else.

Both percentages are taken on the room rate, not stacked on each other, and Cahal Pech’s own printed breakdown is the proof: 9% of $109.00 is $9.81 and 10% of $109.00 is $10.90, together making the $129.71 it publishes. Compounding them instead would give $130.69, which is not the figure the resort prints. Every uplift on this page uses that base-additive method — including the $495 on a $409 Chaa Creek cottage above, which is $409 + $36.81 + $49.08.

When the rates fall

Both Cayo lodges that publish a season calendar price the northern summer and autumn cheap and the weeks around Christmas and the months after it dear — the same direction the coast calendars run, on Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker alike.

• Table Rock puts its Low season at July 1 – October 31, its High at January 4 – March 31, April 9 – June 30 and November 1 – December 19, and its Peak at January 1–3, April 1–8 and December 20–31. A Garden View Room moves $178 to $220 to $268 across those three bands — a 51% swing on the same room.
• Black Rock prices its long April 13 – December 19 window at $230 for a Classic Cabin, against $240 for January 4 – April 12, 2026, $250 for the same window in 2027 and $270 for December 20 – January 3.
• Chaa Creek does not use seasons at all: one rate card for 15 December 2025 – 14 December 2026, with no Christmas peak priced separately.
• Cahal Pech and Midas publish no season dates, so their figures cannot be tied to a window at all.

Both cheap windows cover the wettest months of the year — the national met service puts Belize’s dry season at November to May — and the two lodges that price it disagree only about where the shoulders fall, not about the direction.

What the jungle premium actually costs

Entry points on 26 August 2026, before tax and service charge: US$68 in town, US$109 on the hillside above town, US$158 prepaid or US$178 at the low-season rate of a mid-tier jungle lodge, and US$409 at the luxury lodge. A jungle lodge therefore starts at 2.3 to 2.6 times an in-town room: 2.3 times if you take Black Rock’s prepaid $158, which means paying up front and giving up the refund, and 2.6 times comparing like with like on regular rates — Table Rock’s low-season $178 against Midas’s $68. The luxury tier is about six times.

The premium is paid twice, because the lodges are out of town and arrival transport is priced separately. Cahal Pech publishes the only full point-to-point transfer tariff we found in Belize, all USD, with 12.5% GST applying and “Kids below the age of 10 yrs - Free”:

The card draws no “shared” distinction: the $125.00 airport line carries no qualifier at all and the $175.00 one is labelled “Private”. It also prints “Prices are based on a minimum of two persons, a single pays rate of two” — so a solo traveller pays the two-person figure, not half of it. These are selected rows from a card listing eighteen destinations.

A second operator, San Ignacio Shuttles, publishes "$140 USD for two people" from Belize City to San Ignacio and no per-head table beyond it.

What the operators don’t publish

These are gaps in the properties’ own published information, not ours.

• San Ignacio Resort Hotel returns HTTP 403 to automated fetching on both its home page and its rates page. A rate could not be sourced from the property itself, so it is deliberately absent from the figures above.
• Ka’ana Resort publishes no rates on its own site — booking routes to a TravelClick engine. Its address is published: “Mile 69 1/4 George Price Highway, San Ignacio Cayo District.” Its distance from town is not.
• Midas Belize publishes no tax or service-charge note, so its $68–$258 range cannot be converted into a real total the way Cahal Pech’s can.
• Hostels and true budget guesthouses in San Ignacio publish no rates on their own sites. Figures for the backpacker names circulate only through booking aggregators, so we have not recorded them, and the US$68 above is the lowest published rate rather than the bottom of the town’s market.
• Chaa Creek’s rate page does not state the lodge’s distance from San Ignacio. Of the lodges here, only Table Rock publishes a locatable address, so no mileage ladder can be built for Cayo the way it can on Ambergris Caye.

Every rate here comes from the property’s own published table — none from a booking engine, an aggregator or a quote request. Cahal Pech’s tax and service line items and rack totals are its own published arithmetic, not ours; the $261.60 and $290.40 comparison and the ratios between entry points are ours, computed base-additively from the printed rates and the printed tax terms on this page. Transfer prices come from a resort’s own transfer rate card and a shuttle company’s own home page. Where a property publishes nothing, or blocks automated fetching, it is listed above rather than estimated.
