Taxi Prices at Belize's International Airport: What Is Actually Published
Verified live on 24 September 2026, on the airport operator’s own site, the taxi concession’s own site, the Belize Tourism Board’s pages, a DNS lookup for the Department of Transport, and five transfer operators’ own published prices.
Belize’s international airport publishes no taxi tariff at all — and neither does the taxi union that holds the rank there. What both do publish is a set of hours: taxicabs stand outside Terminals 1 and 2 from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily. The prices below are therefore not taxi fares. They are the fixed, dated prices that five shuttle and ferry operators publish for the same journey, and they start at US$10.00 per person and run to US$30.00 for two people door to door.
The gap is the finding. Every business that competes with the airport taxis prints a price; the airport taxis themselves do not, and the concession’s own FAQ answers the question with a sentence instead of a number.
The published prices for the airport run
Every figure below was read on 24 September 2026 from the named operator’s own page, and every one is a shuttle or transfer price, not a taxi fare.

Both ferry operators describe their shuttle as a ride to their own terminal. San Pedro Belize Express’s US$25.00 buys a ride to the San Pedro Belize Express terminal; Caribbean Sprinter’s US$15.00 buys a ride to the Sprinter terminal. JETS and AQ will take you to either.
JETS Shuttle Belize also prints its own timing for the road: “Time to Destination: approximately 21 minutes. Distance: 15 km / 9 miles.” It takes nothing at booking — “Full amount will be due in cash at the time of service” — and currently advertises that “the third person is FREE!”
How long that road takes is not agreed. JETS Shuttle Belize publishes “approximately 21 minutes” for its own vehicles. William Shuttle Belize, another transfer company, puts the airport “about 30 minutes drive from Belize City’s centre, in Ladyville.” A booking platform says around 20 minutes. Nobody states which point in Belize City they are measuring to, and we are not going to reconcile three companies’ timings of their own drivers — use the figure for the operator you booked. The spread across the three published figures is 10 minutes, which is our arithmetic on 20 against 30.
Which one is cheapest, computed at every party size
For the airport-to-water-taxi-terminal run, on the four operators’ own published rates. This is our arithmetic, and we computed every party size from one to four rather than the endpoints, because the answer changes twice inside that range.

Read down the “1” row and the cheapest option is a ferry operator’s shared van. Read down the “4” row and it is a private car. Of the four in the table, the two ferry shuttles are the only ones that lock you to a single terminal, so for one passenger the cheapest price and the least flexible ride are the same ticket; at two, JETS and AQ match Sprinter’s US$30.00 and will take you to either terminal.
For a party of two travelling into the airport rather than out of it, the comparison is different again: Up Close Belize’s shared seat is US$20.00 plus tax for two, against JETS’ US$30.00 flat — but Up Close publishes a city-to-airport timetable only, so it answers the departure day and not the arrival.
What the authorities publish, in full
This is the entire taxi entry on the airport’s own website, quoted without cuts:
“Connections to hotels, downtown Belize City and other centers are mostly done through the Ladyville Airport Taxi Union. Taxicabs are located outside both Terminals 1 and 2. Hours of operation are from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily. Arrangements for large groups can be made through a representative of the Taxi Association. Contact information: +(501) 225 – 2125.”
There is no fare in it, no statement of whether a fare is per vehicle or per person, and no surcharge of any kind. The airport’s FAQ is asked directly — “Is public transportation available from the PGIA to downltown Belize City?” [sic] — and answers “Yes. Taxicabs are available and can be found outside the Airport Terminal Building during normal operating hours.”
The airport’s own pages do print prices — for parking, not for taxis. Its FAQ answers “The cost per day for parking a car is US$2.00” and, further down the same page, “Overnight parking is US$9.00”; its Quick Facts page describes the US$2.00 as an exit fee in Car Park A and the US$9.00 as per night. No taxi or transfer price appears on any of the four airport pages we read.
Its Travel & Ground Transportation page — the page named for this exact question — lists one travel agency and 15 car-rental companies with phone numbers and email addresses, and not one taxi or shuttle company, and not one price. That count is ours, from the page’s own table.

The union’s own website is the sharpest version of this. Its About page claims “Transparent Pricing — Flat rates, NO surprise charges and free cancellation.” Its FAQ asks “How Much Does It Cost?” and answers “We offer the best prices available.” We read all six of its pages — home, About Us, Contact, FAQ’s, PGIA and Tours — on 24 September 2026, and none of them carries a rate.
The union does publish the practical details: it calls itself “the only Official Transportation Service” of the airport, says it has run the concession since 1985 — 41 years, on our arithmetic, though its FAQ still says “Over 37 years” — and tells arrivals they will find it “immediately outside of your exit from the Arrival area of the airport.” Its fleet is “sedans, vans, cars or SUVs”, and its numbers are +501 635-2126 and +501 225-2125, the second being the same one the airport prints.
Belize’s dollar is pegged to the US dollar at a fixed 2:1, which the airport states on its own passenger page, so any Belize-dollar figure a driver quotes halves cleanly.
Arriving after six in the evening
The published hours are the answer, and they are short. The taxi rank operates 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily, and the airport’s Quick Facts put the airport itself on the same clock: “Daily from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Beyond normal hours, services are available upon request.”
One international booking platform states the opposite — that taxis at the rank are “available 24 hours a day” — while also stating that “There are no fixed Belize Airport taxi rates, nor do the local drivers use a taximeter.” We record the disagreement rather than settling it. The airport operator is the authority for its own concession’s hours; a request-based service is not a published one; and we found nobody publishing a night, late-arrival, holiday or luggage surcharge either way.
Porters
The airport publishes that porters work the Arrival Hall and both terminals in blue and white uniforms, that they are “an independent association and are not employed by the PGIA”, and that they are “generally compensated for their services based on posted fees in the Arrival Hall and Terminals.”
Those fees are posted inside the building. They appear nowhere online, so they cannot be checked before landing.

This site’s earlier reading, on 26 August 2026, was that an official or regulated Belize taxi tariff could not be sourced, and that the flat airport-to-Belize-City rate widely repeated in travel write-ups traces to no authority — not the airport, not the union, not the tourism board, not the transport department. We checked all four again on 9 September and on 24 September 2026, and that position is unchanged, which is why no taxi fare is stated as a number anywhere on this page. The figure that circulates is deliberately not reproduced here: repeating it, even to reject it, is how an unsourced number gets quoted as though it were the answer. What nobody publishes
These are gaps in the authorities’ and operators’ own information, not ours.
- A taxi tariff, from anyone with authority over it. We read the airport operator’s Passenger Info, FAQ, Quick Facts and Ground Transportation pages; all six pages of the taxi union’s own site; and the Belize Tourism Board’s Getting Around and cruise pages. The Department of Transport’s domain does not resolve.
- Any night, late-arrival, holiday or luggage surcharge, from any operator or from the airport.
- Whether a Belize airport taxi fare is per vehicle or per person. Every per-vehicle and per-person structure on this page belongs to a shuttle company.
- Any fare at all from the Ladyville Airport Taxi Union, the concession that actually holds the rank.
- A price between the international airport and the Belize City municipal airstrip. One shared-shuttle operator names “Airstrip Terminals” among the places it serves and prices nothing separately for them.
- Which tax the “+TAX” on Up Close Belize’s US$10.00 and US$25.00 covers, and at what rate.
- Whether Up Close Belize runs airport-to-city at all. Its six published departures are all city-to-airport.
- Whether the JETS third-person-free promotion has an end date.
- A priced transfer sold by any Belize City hotel itself. The three large city hotels that appear in this research appear as another company’s pickup points, not as sellers.
What we did not check
Separate from the list above, because these are our limits: we did not telephone the taxi union, so this is what an arriving passenger can read in advance rather than what a dispatcher would quote; we priced one direction on each operator except where both are named; and we did not complete any booking, so a later step could add something we did not see.
How we researched this
Scope: this page reports source research, not an on-site test. We read the pages named below on 24 September 2026; calculations, unresolved disagreements and information we could not verify are labelled explicitly.
Everything attributed to the airport comes from four of its own pages — Passenger Info, FAQ, Quick Facts and Travel & Ground Transportation — read in full, with the 15 car-rental companies counted off the page’s own table. The taxi union’s site was read page by page from its own sitemap, six pages in total, specifically to establish whether a rate appears on any of them. The tourism board’s two pages were read the same way. The Department of Transport finding is a DNS lookup against 8.8.8.8, which returned a non-existent domain.
The operator prices come from each company’s own page or booking widget: JETS Shuttle Belize’s product page for the BZE–Belize City transfer, AQ Belize Shuttle’s price card for both its shared and private tabs, Up Close Belize’s live booking widget for the US$10.00 seat and the US$25.00 private supplement, San Pedro Belize Express’s FAQ, and Caribbean Sprinter’s home page. The competing drive times come from two of those operators’ own pages plus one booking platform. Two of JETS’ other pages — Policies and Transportation — returned HTTP 403 to us and were not read.
The cheapest-by-party-size table, the 41 years, the per-head figures and the two-passenger comparison are our arithmetic on those published rates.
