Brilliant guide, thanks for sharing Ciara! If we may share some additional travel safety tips for Cuba, do watch out for some vendors who like to play on different Cuban currency and charge you with the more expensive CUC when it should be CUP (it's a 24x difference!).

Also, if a local comes up to trying to sell you discounted cigars, claim of some salsa festival or that there's a buena vista performance nearby, it's probably a lie.

Very good information, I’ll add to be aware the streets in Cuba are in very bad shape. Let the locals do the driving, don’t drive at night and be alert driving thru the country side as cattle and other domestic animals can be on the road. Enjoy your trip to Cuba! Hi Ciara,
I got a ride in a classic car to the airport to depart from Cuba. The driver claimed that it was 50CUC Instead of the 30CUC that I paid upon my arrival. He stated that the cost for the ride is higher in a classic car which makes no sense. He created a whole scene threatened to call the police, drop me back off at the house and he even held unto my luggages. I had no more cash and couldn’t get cash from the atm. He then took my expensive Versace sunglasses. What’s your take on this?

Great post -so helpful! And yes, beautiful pictures! My husband and I are traveling to Cuba in about 10 days under the "support of the Cuban people" category and like others I am obsessing a bit about what this means! Some of its easy – staying in casa particulares, etc. – but since many museums and art galleries are owned/run by the government (and are ones that we want to go to) are they off-limit because they wouldn’t fit the category? Thanks.
