Belize Adventure Tours – Combinations

If  you’ve never experienced the thrill of a Zip-lining Adventure, you have 2 Options in the Cayo District, either of which you can combine with other same-day activities at duPlooy’s.  This is one of the Belize Adventure Tours that can be enjoyed by the entire family

At Caves Branch, you can Zip-line first and then take a hike.  Walk through the forest for about a half hour, toting your innertube in hand. Now hop on your tube and float down the Cave’s Branch River.  Make sure you’re tall enough – 4 ft.  If you’re not there is still a tubing opportunity on the Macal River at duPlooy’s.   See Zip-lining  & Cave Tubing.

At Barton Creek, you can canoe through the cave and afterwards head on out to Calico Jack’s for Zip-lining.  After a picnic lunch you have the option to visit Green Hills Butterfly Ranch or  swim in the cascades of Big Rock Falls in the Mountain Pine Ridge.

This is one of the many Belize Adveture Tours offered by duPlooy’s.  If you are using our “Create Your Own Vacation” Package, you get choose from a full day tour or one of our combination Tours each of your non-transfer days. Continue reading Belize Adventure Tours

Where is JudyIn writing about what has happened to the duPlooy Family over the years, I apparently forgot to mention myself!  Well, I’m right here in Belize most of the time – except when I’m not off visiting the girls and their families.

Usually I can be found hanging around the deck in the early mornings.  This is my time to chatg with guests.  Later I can be found  strolling the grounds checking on things, so if you have questions, feel free to ask.  If I’m not around, my staff can pretty much tell you what’s going on.

Belize Botanic Gardens

Even though this blog is supposed to be Belize Jungle Lodge News, I can’t write about duPlooy’s without mentioning BBG.  This 45 acre garden is lovingly cared for by a staff of dedicated people.  We are proud of the fact that, despite our remote location and small staff, we have gained recognition throughout the botanic garden world.

Hotel Grounds – Belize Jungle Lodge News

If you’ve been to duPlooy’s  before and have noticed the new look around the lodge; or if it’s your first visit and you’ve commented on the beauty of the grounds,  we have my good friend,  Ronald Cruz, to thank for this.  Ronald has worked tirelessly training his talented ground crew, Eleuterio Mesh and Veronico Tzib and the occasional OJT volunteer to implement and maintain his landscaping vision, not an easy task in the tropics.

OJT’s, by the way are trainees from our Horticulture Training Program which consists of a combination of Classroom Theory and On The Job Training.  This is a skills training course, developed at Belize Botanic Gardens to fill a growing job market in Belize’s Tourism Industry.  While this course is sponsored by Belize Botanic Gardens, I think it still qualifies as Jungle Lodge News.

One of the Creatures of the Night you may encounter on a Night-walk at duPlooy’s is the Common Pauraque,  one of the many species of night jars.  This evening bird has the peculiar habit of waiting on the road or trail until you are only a few feet away, before flying off just far enough away so you will soon be upon them again, whereas they  seem to  wait once again for you to approach to within a few feet of them, before darting off again.
